Ph.D. Students

Application Requirements

  1. Hold (or about to obtain) a master’s degree or first-class honors bachelor’s degree (or equivalent qualification) in nursing, medicine, or a related discipline.
  2. Strong academic and research background (fulfilling one of the following criteria is sufficient):
    • Bachelor’s degree from a top 500 university in the world or top 150 in the subject rankings (QS/THE/ARWU) with an undergraduate GPA ≥ 3.2/4.0 (or top 40% of the class).
    • Published as first/second/corresponding author in ≥ 1 JCR Q1 article or ≥ 2 JCR Q2 articles.
  3. Proficiency in spoken and written English (fulfilling one of the following criteria is sufficient, language test scores are valid for up to two years from the test date):
    • Overall IELTS score not lower than 6.5.
    • TOEFL score not lower than 80 (Internet-based test).
  4. Passion for scientific research, diligence, independence, teamwork skills, and candidates with a clinical background are preferred.

Salary and Application Deadline

  1. The monthly salary for doctoral students is HKD 18,000. The application period is from September 1, 2024, to December 1, 2024, and the enrollment will begin in September 2025.   2. In addition to applying to The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, candidates can also apply for the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS), which provides a monthly stipend of up to HKD 26,600, as well as benefits such as tuition waivers and conference travel allowances.
